Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and effective safeguarding practice can only be achieved when organisations work together and ensure that adults with care and support needs are protected and that the outcome of the safeguarding process is life enhancing.

Partnerships

Joint working and sharing of information to relevant agencies is essential in ensuring children and adults are safeguarded. Our safeguarding procedures are written in line with the guidance of the Darlington Safeguarding Partnership for Protecting Children and Adults. The Darlington Safeguarding Website is found at www.darlington-safeguarding-partnership.co.uk and includes advice, training and contact information for the current safeguarding professionals in our Local Authority.

Key Principles

The Statement of Government Policy on Adult Safeguarding (Department of Health) identifies six key principles of safeguarding practice and these are reinforced by the Care Act (2014):

• Empowerment
• Prevention
• Proportionality
• Protection
• Partnership
• Accountability

Arronbeth Therapeutic Care stands by, and enforces, these six key principles of safeguarding practice.
